Global Nurse Network in collaboration with Global Nurse Foundation are pleased to announce Ashley Barney, RN who has been selected to join our inaugural cohort to Whispers Magical Children’s Hospital in Jinja, Uganda in March 2020. Come back tomorrow to meet more of the team!
Ashley Barney (“Ashlily”) is a pediatric nurse currently residing in Utah. Growing up all around-the-world as a military child, adaptation, determination, and resilience became second nature to her. Introduced into the healthcare field at a very young age, often assisting nurses with caring for her mother, while also playing the role of “mom” to her younger brother, leadership and compassion developed into her strongest fortes. Always knowing she had a strong desire to help others, though as a child it was animals, she continued to provide aid to anyone she saw in need.
She began her career in the medical field by working as certified nursing assistant, and an EMT first-responder before pursuing a nursing degree. As a first-generation student, proud mother of 3 (2 girls and 1 boy) and the wife to a US military veteran, Ashley received her Licensed Practical Nursing license and Associates of Science degree through Snow College of Utah. She continued pursuing her dream of becoming an RN by obtaining her BSN Nursing degree from Indiana State University and has since then spent her nursing career in the pediatric field.
Ashley has an immense passion for motivating and helping others, learning new things, and the great-outdoors. Some of her future aspirations include advancing nursing licensure/degree, and obtaining additional certification(s) in pediatric intensive care. She hopes to some day “continue my adventures off-the-beaten path to travel the world by providing humanitarian work. This will allow me to use my nursing skills and passion to help and learn from others, while seeing the world through my own eyes.”
Stay Tuned, until tomorrow!
